An historic and breathtaking deception
This video, Video 01 E introduces the rest of the video series by putting what was done by the three BMJ editors and their author into context. How the world was fooled by fabrications of such unbelievable falsity no one would believe any supposed scientific medical journal would do such a thing and not the journal of the UK’s British Medical Association.
But they did.
The Drama of BMJ Deputy Editor Jane Smith’s Libel Case Deposition
You will learn of the dramatic moment in June 2012 during the Texas libel proceedings brought by Andrew Wakefield against the British Medical Journal. It was at the deposition of BMJ Deputy Editor Jane Smith. Smith was responsible for fact-checking. She was asked one question about fact-checking which resulted in her having to leave the room to compose herself.
Two months later Jane Smith’s 39 year career with the British Medical Journal ended and she was gone from her job at the journal.
The “Big Lie”
The “Big Lie” is commonly associated with Nazi propaganda in 1930s Germany, but its use in propaganda has a far longer history to deceive entire nations. If you are going to lie, make it such a big lie that no one will believe it is a lie. This sounds counter-intuitive to the degree of being unbelievable, but it is an approach which is used because it works, especially when it is repeated so often that no-one will believe it cannot be true.
The BMJ’s author simply invented false claims so that the BMJ’s editors could claim falsely fraud against Andrew Wakefield when there was none. And these allegations were repeated continually in all kinds of media across the world.
You will see for yourself that Allegations 1, 3 and 4 are false and how blatantly false they are – with the truth hiding in plain sight for those who wanted to look. But when you learn about the BMJ ‘s false Allegations 2, 5 and 6, in Videos 12 to 14 dealing with Step Eight, there you will see not just one big lie but one big lie built upon layer after layer of large and blatant lies. The common aspect is the “Make it up and then claim fraud” approach with no regard for the truth.
In the US Office of Strategic Services psychological profile of Adolf Hitler by Walter C. Langer, Langer wrote, summarising Adolf Hitler’s primary rules, these included:
“….. never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”
You will see that in fixing the case against Andrew Wakefield, this approach has been adopted throughout by the BMJ’s author of the “How the case was fixed ….” article but it has been taken much further in constructing this complex false fabricated narrative – this legend or cover story – to accuse and blame falsely one man – Andrew Wakefield of doing what Wakefield never did.
Excellent level of detail and thanks for the post - years have passed but his story is still at the heart of the matter. Andrew's unimpeachable integrity shines like a clear light, and always has done. One way or another all these vaccines have to stop. Poisoning for profit without liability and with state collusion has to stop. I hope and pray that soon now the whole evil business will stop. But let us not be under any illusions about the power of those who want it to continue. Doctor Wakefield's story exposes, and continues to expose, nothing less than the true depth and breadth of corruption in medicine, journalism, the law, the courts, pharma and the polity. I suppose we were a bit used to seeing this sort of thing around the "intelligence" shenanigans attendant upon war but never to this extent and this deeply in relation to a core industry and science which we thought was meant to be protecting us. I take my hat off to Doctor Wakefield. He stood up for his patients and their families and for true science based medicine; a man to make one proud to be an Englishman. By the way, why Euripides?
